Maya Erdelyi
Maya Erdelyi is a Boston/NYC and LA-based award-winning animator and director. She creates intricate hand-made animations and collages inspired by imaginary worlds, memories and the unconscious. Maya’s animations utilize a hybrid approach to cut-paper stop-motion, puppetry, drawn and computer animation mixing low and hi-tech aesthetics and approaches. Her work has been shown in national and international film festivals, galleries and museums. Maya directed the music video “New Cannonball Blues” for TV on the Radio’s album and film “Nine Types Of Light,” nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video, and won the Barbara Aronfsky Latham award for Best Emerging Video Artist at the 2013 Ann Arbor Film Festival. Maya is a 2012 MFA graduate in Experimental Animation from CalArts. Maya is working on her first documentary/animation feature entitled “Anyuka.”
Clients and collaborators include: Harvard Business Publishing, VICE, Intel, Children’s Documentary Network, TV on the Radio, Michel Gondry, Aaron Rose, Isaiah Seret, Levi’s, Toyota, BRIC media, and FAKE BAND COLLECTIVE among others. Maya is currently a Visiting Fulltime Faculty member at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
